King George's War (1744-1748)

*Part of The War of Austrian Succession

This was the third inconclusive war between France and Great Britain for control of North America. Although technically at peace between 1713-1744; both France and Britain had territorial disputes between the borders of Nova Scotia, New England and the Ohio Valley. The war was characterized by the numerous bloody border raids by both sides, supported by their Native allies. The only significant military victory was the British Capture of Fort Louisbourg in 1745. There were no other significant gains, and little military aid was sent from either mother country. The war ended with the Peace of Aix-la-Chapelle (1748) and all conquered territory was restored; including Louisbourg. (Encyclopedia Britannica)
